As you may have already heard, earlier today the politicians in Parliament rejected the government's budget. They would, it seems, prefer to maintain the status quo, to keep things stagnant, to avoid rocking the boat.

But that is not why I became Prime Minister. At the election, I stood on a platform of radical change, and I have every intention of implementing it. For, as I have always believed, there is no point in seeking office, if you intend to do nothing while you are there. I therefore reject the blocking tactics of this reactionary parliament, and shall not abandon the budget.

Therefore, I hereby order that government spending in ALL departments be reduced to the 70% level.

If parliament wishes spending levels to be restored, then they must either pass my budget or remove me from office. They may want the status quo, but that is not an option. Parliament must act, and it must act now.
