Title: Interstate Highways Bill

Carl Miller - January 4, 2010 05:36 PM (GMT)
Under this bill, the individual states' motorway systems will be linked to create a national system of interstate highways. These highways will be 80% funded by the federal government and 20% funded by the states. The speed limit on all of these interstates shall be 70 mph (113 kph). They will be numbered as outlined in Schedule A. No interstate shall ever have on it a traffic light, as all interchanges must be grade-separated.

This shall consume 150 units of the transportation budget.

Schedule A.

Odd-numbered interstates are north-south, and increase from 5 in the west to 95 in the east.

Even-numbered interstates are east-west, and increase from 10 in the south to 90 in the north.

Three-digit interstates where the first digit is an odd number (eg 105) are spurs, which begin at an interstate (eg 5) and end at some other road.

Three-digit interstates where the first digit is an even number (eg 205) are loops.

(OOC: Ostentian Interstate standards will be the same as those of the US, so you can read more here.)

e: Also I can't get into the cabinet office.

Does Ostentia use MPH? I know the UK does for some inexplicable reason, but maybe we're being logical for this sim...

Ostentia does indeed use MPH.

Inevitable - January 4, 2010 08:52 PM (GMT)
But the rest is metric right?

Pokemaniac John - January 4, 2010 08:59 PM (GMT)
It varies. The Royalist states use imperial. :P

And why would we want this?

Carl Miller - January 4, 2010 11:12 PM (GMT)
Because there's no highways going between states (except for Mearor).
