Ostentia in Chaos
So much has happened these last two days that it is impossible to sum every event in a single leading headline. When we brought you the news on Friday, Parliament was due to close for an election which an AAPA-CCP Coalition was due to win in a landslide. Now, the leader of the CCP, Sir William Buttersworth, is missing, presumed dead, after his helicopter was attacked south of the Northern Isles, and Kay Jackson, AAPA leader is in a critical condition in hospital after having been shot outside Parliament. While he is expected to recover, the very fact that this happened is a serious problem.

=STOP PRESS: Jackson has recovered sufficiently to be moved out of hospital, where his wounds were found to be not as bad as previously thought.=

Of course, not only has Ostentia been affected, but other nations too. We saw last week the assassination of Patriarch Dilligence XXIII, since then we have seen an attempt on the life of Exilian Regent Roxelana, who fortunately survived. Meanwhile in politics, Inevitable, the next in Parliamentary succession after Buttersworth's Disappearance, has failed to become Prime Minister. Instead, Commoncold0 invoked a confidence motion and was instead installed as Prime Minister with a promise to hold elections before the 15th (whereas Inevitable proposed indefinite postponement). His National Government will have to deal with issues such as the mounting threat of Assym, believed to be behind both Jackson and Buttersworth's attacks. Commoncold0 has promised to uphold the Bill of Rights and hold an election as soon as possible, as previously mentioned.
We at Vox Valaxia would like to ask the people of Ostentia to remain calm in this time of crisis. This is arguably the greatest challenge our nation has ever faced, far surpassing last year's Democratian crisis. We cannot pull through is we panic. We must remain calm and resolute in the face of danger. Only with this, and the help of our allies, will we defeat this threat which faces us.

Poisoner Trial Postponed Again
In light of the current crisis and election timetable, the trial of the Valaxian Poison Murderer has been postponed to September 20th. Meanwhile he has been transferred out of Valaxia and into a secure location elsewhere in the country in order to thwart any rescue attempts by Assym.

The Week in Politics™
It seems there are two halves to this week. The first half, in which the CCP and AAPA decided to join forces to fight an election with over 50% of public support, and the second half in which the leaders of both parties were attacked along with assassination attempts around the world by Assym. The second half, for the most part, is dealt with in our leading story today. No new legislation was proposed this term, however Commoncold0's Electoral Unreform Bill was slightly modified. Meanwhile, in motions, a Minimum Wage one was proposed, the government's plans to make school compulsory were defeated, Eronam and Ostentia entered a mutual defence pact, Commoncold0's plans to rename the BHS the NHS were thwarted, and a Motion of Confidence in a government lead by Commoncold instead of Inevitable was passed. Meanwhile, in Wo a new leader has been chosen, a Matriarch, the first ever female leader of the Church of Wo.
