Exa in chaos after assasination attempt on Regent Roxelana I!

Central Exa was thrown into chaos today as a bomb exploded in the Regent's residence while cabinet was in session. Police immediatly closed off the entire city as the Regent was rushed to hospital in a critical condition, protected from the effects of the blast by a hefty table leg. The explosive device is thought to be of Assymian origin but there is no evidence of this theory as of yet. Other members of the cabinet were not so lucky and the Foreign Minister was killed instantly by the blast, which originated from one of his document boxes.

In a statement released at the time, HRH King Zog II, in the country temporarily on his way to Assym for unrelated discussions urged for calm, delaying his departure to deal with this crisis as the most senior member of the Privy Council.

As Foreign Minister for Ostentia and a long standing member of the Privy Council and former Regent I have had great experience in the realm of international relations. In all my time never has such a dark situation as this arose. Even as the peace loving countries of the world formed their defence pacts, reminscent of the Ostentian League of old Assym took not notice, instead taking the agressive tone. His Holiness dead; Sir William Buttersworth missing; Regent Roxelana hospitalised. All clearly vicitms of Assymian attack. Never in the history of the world has a country acted in such a manner as to invite its own destruction. Following these abhorrent attacks it is now clear that Assym cannot be negotiated with, cannot be reasoned with and as such must be destroyed, before its threat grows beyond that which the grand alliance of the UCCR and Christophia can manage. As countries wronged by Assym directly and without provocation, we Exilia, Wo and Ostentia must also join this fight, in memory of those who died to Assymian agression, in order that it never happens again. The fight will be long, the fight will be hard, but it is a fight we cannot afford to lose or not take up. Assym has gone too far and must pay the price.
