Title: A Grave Announcement
Description: but not my grave

Inevitable - September 5, 2009 09:40 PM (GMT)
*stumbles into press office and shuffles papers*

I come before you with a very important announcement.

Approximatly 2 hours minutes ago, Sir William Buttersworth's was flying from Valaxia to the Northern Isles when his helicopter exploded.

Recovery crews have been teeming over the crash site and confirm that this was not an accident. The body of the Prime Minister has yet to be found.

Considering that the helicopter was destroyed in our Northern waters and the close timing between this event and the assassination of Patriarch Diligence of Wo, we cannot rule out that the culprit behind this assassination was Assym, who have declared war upon us. Indeed, we fear that this was merely a scouting party that happened accross Buttersworth at this most unfortunate time.

As a result, I am calling for the election to be temporarily suspended. If Assym attacked while our leadership was in question, we would struggle to respond to the threat.

Due to the extremely serious nature of this threat, I will also be requesting immediate access to Emergency Powers, and that all legislation unrelated to Ostentia's defence be blocked for the time being.

This will only be a temporary measure. Once we have ascertained there is no immediate threat, government may continue as normal.

Deputy Prime Minister,
Inevitable.

Such actions are unconstitutional, and I would like to make it clear to the armed forces that when this coup is eventually put down, the resulting reconstruction legislation will be far from forgiving.

*flees country*

EDIT: Probably not necessary...

Inevitable - September 5, 2009 09:43 PM (GMT)
Coup? You insult the memory of Sir William Butterworth.

I will of course be doing this by the book. Including emergency power legislation and everything.

Commoncold0 - September 5, 2009 09:45 PM (GMT)
I refuse to accept your authority unless the Speaker confirms that under the Government Contingency Act you were indeed the number 1 choice for the succession.

... which is exactly why I haven't started it yet. I'm awaiting the inevitable confirmation.

This is...*ahem* extremely un...what's the word...conventional?...I dunno, but I can vouch for Inevitable being second in command due to my having access to the line of succession (remember I was speaker at the start of the term). I know I'm no Speaker, but what AE says is true...

I'm not happy with that. I was under the impression from SWB that he intended to change the order of succession, fearing attempts on his life from a certain deputy...

I want to know what the order of succession was at the moment he dissapeared.

My condolences go out to the family of Buttersworth, sadly to say, the sea crossings of the country are deadly, and there could forces other than assym at work.

I can confirm that as the line of succession stands, Inevitable is first choice to become Prime Minister, and an invite to the position has been offered.

Where is HRH now, by the way, as he seems to be sending telegrams again?
