While there is question as to whether it is a matter for Olinian or Valaxian authorities to consider, what is clear is that he is, as with the current single suspect, an Assym national.
Vox Valaxia understands that he is the current suspect's (who remains without a name due to silence) handler of sorts, providing orders from the Assym government, as well as the illegal importing of necessary apparatus for poison distribution. The man was caught trying to board a domestic flight to Torness International from Apeiron Caluna Airport, where the police believe he would have attempted to flee the country via private boat, an essentially untraceable method of escape. As previously mentioned, there is contention over who will prosecute the man. While it is believed that he was domiciled in Olin (formerly Boondoxia), most of his actions were carried out, and indeed most of his time was spent, in Valaxia. It is unclear whether this will play a part on Tuesday's trial at the Valaxian High Court.
Government Criticised for “Leaks”A new newspaper appeared this week, specialising in rumours and anonymous tip-offs.
The Informer, edited by an unknown man, bills itself as a more upmarket and serious version of Boo Media's popular
Daily Slander. In its first issue out this week,
The Informer alleged that the government had plans to introduce conscription in Ostentia, despite this apparently being constitutionally unsound, not to mention hypocritical from the libertarian Centrist Conservative Party. The government was quick to deny any rumours, further fueling speculation about the goings on behind closed doors. Due to the Official Secrets Act, however, we may well never see whether the government truly considered conscription if it does not act on it, as any information could be classified as “sensitive” and obliterated. Further reported was the alleged resignation of Foreign Secretary HRH King Zog II, who denied rumours that he was to quit and pursue a more aggressive stance in a new party.
Economists Baffled Over Ostentian EconomyOstentia's economy appears to be one of the first in the world to stay perfectly stationary for several months. Since signs of recovery began to appear around May-time, the economy has remained at a consistent rating, despite many positive actions by the government designed to spur its growth, and leading to speculation that the recession may well not yet be over. This has been the bane of many a parliamentary bill, several of which rely on the economy improving. Experts are severely confused however as to how an economy can remain perfectly stationary, especially a mixed one such as Ostentia's...
