Sir William Buttersworth speaks to students at a Ostentia High School

Sir William Buttersworth is speaking about education etc... and finally, I'd like to formally announce the CCP's position on the Assym crisis.

First of all, I'd like to say to the missing explorers that our hearts and minds are with them and their families during this hard time, we will not give up searching and will not give up trying to find you.

The AAPA has made a wise decision stopping the search party because obviously know where they are now, and our nation cannot afford to lose further lives to overseas thugs.

Assym has conducted a vile and disgusting act, we consider this to be more then an act of war, it is callous terrorism. The explorers were not armed members of the defence force, they were peace bringers, and it is unjust and unfair that they are captured.

This brings us to what the CCP believes the appropriate steps forward are. Assym has declared war on Ostentia, and without a well prepared defence force we stand little chance of defending ourselves against these self-proclaimed 'overlords'. We propose immediately bolstering our military might to defend against any issues that might arise. We should also, via the UCCR, initiate immediate proceedings to communicate with Assym and see what their demands, if any are. Remember, Assym so far is conducting nothing more then terrorism. From what we know (outside the close-knit security panel circles that are in place after the National Secrets Act), they are little more then a rogue 'government' of guerillas. Communicating with them will be difficult, but we have to try. We must tireless try our hardest.

The way the whole situation has deteriorated is cause for profound concern. It is extremely important that all involved show restraint and play their part in bringing about a political solution first, and a defence based solution second. I am particularly concerned about the possible impact of potential conflict on civilians. We are dangerously close to war, and there is a great risk of this spreading to other parts of the world.

Specific policies that the CCP believes should be exacted by Commons as soon as possible include the establishment of a security panel as part of the NEA. We need high-level subject matter experts to assist in defusing a problem because it becomes a international crisis. We should increase military spending for preparations incase the world case scenario eventuates and we should keep all Ostentians fully aware of what is transpiring.
