The Fruit & Veg = Perfection Party™

§.1 - Hello!

Hello! The F&V=P Party™ is an environmentalist party founded and lead by me, Pokemaniac John, possibly the most succsesfull environment minister and newspaper journalist/editor/publisher Democratia ever saw before it's unfortunate downfall in August, 2007. The F&V=P Party™ has now come to Ostentia, with a whole load of new policies. Have a look, and I hope you think we're worth voting for. :)

§.2 - Policies.

§.2:A - Health.

If elected, we propose to steer our nation's health service away from modern medicines where possible, and instead use natural treatments such as homeopathy more. Under us, free clinics would be set up all over Ostentia, run by qualified proffesionals selected by the department of health. These clinics would provide a wide range of treatments, such as herbalism, homeopathy, aromatherapy, acupuncture and phsiotherapy. Obviously, they would also have many modern medicines for ailments that cannot be treated by these means. Hopefully, these clinics will be succsesfull in providing top-notch health care to all of Ostentia's citizens.

To further improve health, smoking would be outlawed in all areas other than smoker's own homes and in hotel rooms (obviously, it would only be legal in hotel rooms if the hotel allows). It would be made illegal to smoke in these areas should the smoker have a child under the legal smoking age there at the same time.

We would also aim to improve health further through improving other areas such as the environment.

§.2:B - Education.

Under us, no form of schooling would be compulsory, however, if a child is not attending school, they must be given some sort of home-education. Either the parent or guardian can arrange a home tutor via the school, or they can teach the child themselves. If the parent or guardian chooses to teach the child themselves, a home-education inspector would visit monthly to make sure the child is learning everything they should. If the parent or guardian is failing to provide a good enough education, the government will provide a home tutor.

All schools must have several groups of students determined by intelligence. The children would be sorted into these groups ("sets") by the results of a test on entering primary school. There will be a new test each year, and the children will all be re-sorted.

§.2:C - Economy.

We beleive strongly in a fair economy, in which all businesses have an equal chance at sucess. To acheive this, we would tax businesses more heavily the larger they grew, while some of the proceeds from this would go to providing government loans for small businesses (obviously only a small amount of the tax would be required for this, as the loans themselves would be payed back). To ensure that no money would be lost on this scheme due to inflation, a minimal interest rate would apply to said loans. We would also put in place strict laws to prevent monopolies in all markets.

Many government advertising campaigns would be set up to try and persuade citizens not to get into debt, promoting the use of debit rather than credit cards and discouraging people from taking out loans unless they are sure they can pay them back etc.

§.2:D - Law & Order.

To help detter criminals, more police in uniform would patrol the streets, and we would cut down on numbers of plain-clothes policemen. Police would be armed with finger-print coded low-voltage tazers and dart guns. These would be able to stun/tranquilize, but not kill, criminals. All armed police officers would have to go on an extensive training course and pass an exam to make sure they were perfectly able to use the weapons without posing any danger to themselves, innocent members of the public, and indeed, without the possibility of seriously injuring the criminals themselves. The finger-print coding would stop anyone not from the police force or without the proper qualifications from using them. Police would also be equipped with bulletproof armoured helmets, as well as the standard kevlar armour.

The main way in which we aim to lower crime, however, is to improve education and social affairs. Education should help stop people commiting criminal offences in the first place, and social affairs should prevent there being so much reason to resort to crime.

Instead of prisons, we would focus more on re-habilitation centres. These centres would be set up in all major towns and cities. Criminals who have commited minor offences will have to attend re-habilitation classes. Also, criminals who have commited more serious offences may be sent to the centres once every few days while being held in prison.

§.2:E - Transport.

All public transport would be nationalized. A rail system would be set up to transport Ostentia's people all over the country, and once in towns, there would be tram sytems set up for quick, easy and environmentally friendly transport throughout the towns.

Private cars would be heavily taxed, espeacialy those which do considerable damage to the environment. This would be a major contributor to the funds needed to build all the public transport systems.

Furthermore, a bicycle rental system would be set up in all towns and cities. Citizens would be able to rent bicycles etc from the government, free for the first hour and costing a small amount after that. These bicycles etc would have small electronic tracking devices placed in them to help prevent theft.

§.2:F - Social Affairs.

To improve social affairs, we would set up many leisure centres in major towns and cities, where citizens of all ages can go to take part in all sorts of activities. We would also increase the pay of people such as community carers, to make this much needed work seem more attractive, and set up many government run care homes for the elderly, where old people can enjoy a high quality of life for free.

Social affairs would also be improved through good education and healthcare.

§.2:G - The Environment.

To keep the environment doing well, The F&V=P Party™ would heavily tax environmentaly unfriendly veichles and promote environmentaly friendly energy sources, such as solar, wave and wind. Some nuclear plants may be set up, depending on how much energy is needed. These would be built away from towns/cities and environmentaly sensetive areas to make a meltdown less of a threat to Ostentia's citizens and wild life.

However, we intend to avoid nuclear power if possible, due to the problem of nuclear waste.

§.2:H - Foreign Affairs.

The F&V=P Party™ would propose many trade deals with neighbouring countries, benefitial to both the nations involved. However, all imports and exports would be carefully monitered to make sure we do not become over-reliant on foreign trade, as in these dangerous times, it is all too likely that our trade routes may be cut off. To trade with other nations, we may need to increase the size of the merchant navy. This would be done slowly, so that it can pay for itself.

We currently have no intention to impose any tariffs, although we may do so at a later date.

I've just remembered how bad HRH is at policy-making. Can I join you instead? (I promise not to try and seize control of your party).

If you do let me in, can I be economy spokesperson?

To acheive this, we would tax businesses more heavily the larger they grew, while some of the proceeds from this would go to government grants for small businesses having trouble getting started in today's competetive market. If we are not careful, we could end up giving out more in grants than we get in tax, so as businesses grow, they will be expected to slowly pay back the grant, interest free.

A grant that you have to pay back is a loan... <_<

Besides, you'd still be losing money as a result of inflation. You'd effectively be charging a negative rate of interest. ;)

Was that to mark 5 months of inactivity or something 0_o ?...
